Cats Host Lions Saturday in Crisp
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats will host the No. 14 Freed-Hardeman Lions Saturday at 3 p.m. in Crisp Arena. It will be the 82nd meeting in the longtime series between the two with FHU holding a 43-38 advantage in the series.
The teams met November 22 in Henderson with the Lions winning 87-56. The Wildcats, playing shorthanded due to injuries and illness led 16-15 after the first 10 minutes but a Freed-Hardeman 31-9 run the remainder of the half gave Freed a 46-25 margin at the break.
Bethel was never able to close the gap in the second half and suffered the conference loss.
FHU had a whopping 46-14 advantage in points in the paint. The Lions shot 55 percent (36-65) from the floor and forced Bethel into a season high 22 turnovers. The Wildcats shot just 33 percent (20-60) from the field.
Connor Guthrie led Bethel with 12 points while Brennon Marsh followed with 10 points and a game high nine rebounds. Geraldo Lane led Freed with a game high 16 points.
The Wildcats are coming off a 96-87 home loss to Georgetown. The Cats have lost three in a row and enters the fray at 12-10 overall and 8-9 in the Mid-South Conference.
The Lions are coming off an 82-79 home loss to the University of the Cumberlands. The Lions lost at the buzzer on a Patriots three pointer. FHU is 17-6 and 13-4.
