Cats Fall at No. 16 Thomas More
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -The Bethel Wildcats traveled to Crestview Hills, Kentucky Thursday night to face No. 16 Thomas More. Bethel fell to 13-11 overall and 9-10 in the MSC with an 76-60 loss to the Saints. Thomas More won their sixth in a row and moved to 20-5 and 11-1.
The Saints gradually pulled away in the first half to lead 47-27 at the break. TMU shot 52 percent in the half. Latrell Carter led the Wildcats with eight first half points. Three TMU players were in double figures with Kyle Ross leading the Saints with 17 first half points.
Thomas More dashed any hope the Wildcats may have had scoring the first ten points of the second half to up their lead to 30 at 57-27. A late Wildcat surge cut the deficit to 14 at 72-58 with six minutes left but TMU held on for the double digit win.
TMU shot 48 percent from the field. Bethel shot 43 percent from the floor. The Saints knocked down eight three-pointers. Bethel had three treys on the night. Thomas More had a 19-7 advantage in points off turnovers and a 36-32 margin in rebounds.
Jose Nazario led Bethel with 17 points while Carter finished with 10 points.
TMU's Jacob Jones led all scorers with 23 points. Ross finished with 17 points while Reid Jolly had 13 tallies.
The Wildcats travel to Wilberforce Saturday for another MSC match-up. Action begins at 2 p.m. CST.
