Wildcat Men Pull Off Stunning Win Over LSU–Alexandria

Crisp Arena shook on Saturday night as the Bethel Wildcats stormed back and delivered a thrilling 90-83 victory over LSU–Alexandria.

The Cats moved to 5-1 on the season.

For much of the night, LSUA looked in control. They shot a blistering 57.1% in the first half, attacked the paint, and carried a 41-36 halftime lead behind the steady scoring of EJ McQuillan, who finished with 25 points, and Jordan Decuir, who added 20. Bethel never panicked—because the final 20 minutes belonged to the Wildcats.

With the crowd on its feet and momentum shifting, Chauncey Hughes III took over, piling up 27 points, six rebounds, and going a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line, including several clutch makers in the closing minutes. His poise and aggression set the tone for a 54-point second half.

Bethel's depth also changed the game. David Starr came off the bench with 16 points, attacking the rim and giving the Wildcats the spark they needed. Jackson Hayes added 12 points and four assists, while Ethan Turner and Alonzo Rhodes Jr. combined for 14 in the paint, helping Bethel finish with a commanding 48 points inside.

The Wildcats won the battle of the boards 35-31, protected the ball late. Bethel outscored LSU-A 14-6 in transition, turning defense into momentum. When Bethel needed stops the most, they got them—holding LSUA to just 31% shooting in the second half after their hot start.

LSU–Alexandria stayed within striking distance thanks to its elite free-throw shooting—26-for-30 as a team—but Bethel's relentless energy, toughness, and crowd-fueled surge proved too much.

When the buzzer sounded, the Wildcats walked off to roaring applause and another early-season statement win.

A stunning comeback, a heavyweight battle, and a team growing stronger each night. The Wildcats hit the road to Crowley Ridge, Tuesday Nov. 24.
