Cats Win 11th Straight with Win Over Mighty Oaks

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -After enjoying the Christmas break, the Bethel Wildcats returned to action traveling to Oakland City, Indiana Monday playing Oakland City in the Dunn Hospitality Classic hosted by the Mighty Oaks.

The Cats won their 11th straight with a 71-62 win over the Oaks. Bethel moved to 12-1 while the Mighty Oaks dropped to 5-7 on the season. Bethel is off to their best start in twenty years.

The Wildcats are 5-0 all-time versus Oakland City.

Bethel's   defense set the tone in the first half and led 36-20 at the break. The Cats held the Oaks to just 22 percent from the floor in the half. Oakland City was 1-of -13 from behind the arc. The Oaks had 11 first half turnovers and saw Bethel have a 32-23 margin in rebounding.

The Oaks outscored the Wildcats 42-35 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome their tough first half shooting woes.

Chauncey Hughes III led Bethel with 18 points. Ethan Turner had 13 points and 10 boards. Russell Wilson had 10 points.

The Cats had a 55-45 advantage in rebounding. The Wildcats had a 40-24 margin in points in the paint and a 26-15 edge in bench points.

Bethel takes on Indiana-South Bend at 4 p.m.
