Wildcats Roar Back with Dominant Second-Half Surge Against UHSP

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - After a sluggish opening stretch, the Bethel Wildcats flipped the switch following halftime and pulled away for a convincing 105–69 bounce-back victory over UHSP on Thursday night inside Crisp Arena. Bethel outscored the Eutectics 61–32 in the second half, turning a seven-point halftime lead into a runaway win.

UHSP kept things competitive early behind a hot shooting first half, trimming Bethel's margin to 44–37 at the break. But any hopes of an upset vanished quickly once the Wildcats found their rhythm on both ends of the floor.

Bethel shot a scorching 71.4 percent in the second half, carving up the UHSP defense with crisp ball movement and relentless pressure. The Cats finished the night with 54 points in the paint, 38 points off turnovers, and a massive 54 bench points, showcasing their depth and athleticism.

Brayden Nunnally led the offensive charge, knocking down 4-of-4 from beyond the arc and finishing with 18 points in just 22 minutes. Chauncey Hughes III added 14 points, four steals, and steady leadership, while Alonzo Rhodes Jr. delivered a complete performance with 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The Wildcats also got double-figure contributions from Jason Leek (12 points) and David Starr (10 points), while Ethan Turner controlled the glass with eight rebounds to go along with 10 points. Bethel dished out 18 assists on 41 made baskets and forced 23 UHSP turnovers, turning defense into offense all night long.

UHSP was paced by Landon Engelage's 23 points, but the Eutectics were held to just 38.2 percent shooting in the second half as Bethel's defensive intensity ramped up.

The decisive win pushes Bethel to 13–2 on the season, serving as a statement performance and a reminder of what the Wildcats are capable of when they play with urgency and togetherness. The Cats now turn their focus forward, carrying momentum after a complete bounce-back showing at home. They host rival Blue Mountain Christian Saturday at 4 p.m.

"After the first half, our guys really locked in and played the way we're capable of," said Bethel Head Coach Jeff Britt. "We shared the ball, defended with purpose, and our energy completely changed. That second half was a great response from this group, and it showed the kind of team we can be when we're connected.
