Men’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. –The Bethel Wildcats men's soccer team stayed unbeaten on the season with a 3-1 road victory over Williams Baptist Saturday afternoon at WBU Soccer Field. With the win, Bethel improved to 4-0-1, while the Eagles dropped to 2-5-1.
The Wildcats got on the board early when Horace Avila Jr. buried an unassisted strike in the 19th minute. Just before halftime, Ludwig Anders Flink doubled the lead, finishing off a feed from Inti Arismendi Janninge at the 41:13 mark to give Bethel a 2-0 cushion at the break.
Williams Baptist responded after halftime as Mateus Ribeiro cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 55th minute, assisted by Carlos Aedo. But Bethel answered back in the 74th minute when Freddie Pickford delivered a key insurance goal, securing the 3-1 result.
Defensively, goalkeeper Diego Camargo turned away two shots while earning his fourth win of the year. Bethel outshot Williams Baptist 17-10, including a 6-3 edge in shots on target.
The match saw a physical tone with nine yellow cards issued, but the Wildcats maintained composure to close out the win.
Bethel will return to action next week as conference play approaches, looking to keep momentum rolling from its unbeaten start.
