Softball Splits Final Two Games in Orange Beach
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats split their two games on the final day of the Gulf Coast Invitational Sunday in Orange Beach.
The final day saw Bethel fall 4-2 to No. 16 Columbia (Mo.). The Cats bounced back on a high note to close out their six games with a 7-6 victory over Louisiana Christian. Bethel was 2-4 over the weekend and returns home sporting a 10-6 mark.

Bethel's Melanie Alexander had a walk-off sacrifice fly, driving in Morgan Hunt to give the Lady Cats the one run victory over LCU. Bethel had trailed 6-4 going into the bottom of the sixth. Kennedy Gillespie scored on a LCU error. Trailing 6-5, the Cats tied the game on a Jade Brallier double. That set up the seventh inning dramatics.
Kayla Reed had an RBI single in the second. Kirsten Eversole drove in a run in the third. Freshman Emma Johnson had three hits and drove in a run in the third inning. Brallier accounted for the other run with an RBI in the fourth.
Both squads let nine runners on base. Bethel outhit LCU 12-5. Lily Johnson picked up the win for the Wildcats.
Bethel returns to the diamond Friday and Saturday with doubleheaders versus MSC foe Georgetown. Action begins Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Watch for a preview of the series later at www.bethelathletics.com.
