Softball Splits Twin Bill at Campbellsville
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats and the Campbellsville Tigers split their MSC softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in the Commonwealth. The Tigers won game one 9-1. The Cats bounced back with a 9-4 victory in game two. The games marked the first of 12 straight road games for the Wildcats. It was also Campbellsville's first home games of the season.
In game one Bethe jumped out to 1-0 lead when Melanie Alexander scored on a passed ball in the first. Behind three first inning home runs, Campbellsville scored four runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Tigers added two runs in the second, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to win big. The Tigers out hit the Wildcats 13-3. Maddie Locke was charged with the Bethel loss. Katy Chadwell picked up the win for the Tigers.
Alexander socked a three homer in in the second inning of game two. Brittney Minor drove in a run in the third inning. In the sixth, Jade Brallier had an RBI which was followed by an Alexis Wheeler two RBI single. Kalani Kuroda completed Bethel's scoring with a two run double in the seventh. Campbellsville scored two runs in the third followed by single runs in the sixth and seventh. Bethel outhit the Tigers 15-5.
Madison Haught went the distance for the Wildcat win. Courtney Patterson suffered the Tiger loss.
Bethel finished the day at 14-8 and 8-2 in the league. Campbellsville is 9-12 and 2-4.
The Cats will be back in action Friday at Thomas More. The Cats and Saints will play a doubleheader Friday at 1:30 CST and then square off again Saturday for a twin bill beginning at 11 a.m. CST.
