Softball Gains Split at Thomas More
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats and the Thomas More Saints split their MSC softball doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Crestview Hills. The Saints took a 7-2 win in game one, but Bethel bounced back with a 9-1 victory in game two.
In game one Thomas More scored four runs in the first and added three runs in the fifth. Bethel scored single runs in the sixth and seventh. The Saints outhit the Wildcats 9-5. Brittany Minor and Morgan Hunt each drove in single runs for the Cats. Madison Haught suffered the Bethel loss while Annika Gels was the winner for Thomas More.
The Wildcats bounced back with a big win in game two. They pounded out fourteen hits in the five-inning game. The Cats scored two runs in the first, one in the third and then broke the game open with five in the third. Bethel added the final run in the top of the fifth.
Melanie Alexander was four for four with two doubles and two runs driven in. Brittney Minor homered and drove in two runs. Alexis Wheeler homered and drove in two runs. Alexa Thrasher had two RBI's. Morgan Hunt had two hits and scored three times.
Lauren Reimsnyder allowed just two hits in five innings to pick up the Wildcat win. Hannah Bishop was charged with the Thomas More loss.
Bethel moved to 15-9 overall and 9-3 in the league. The Saints completed the day at 6-13 and 4-10.
The squads will complete the series Sunday with a twin bill starting at 11 a.m.
