Wildcats Drop Doubleheader at Lindsey Wilson

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the No. 17 Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders closed out their four game weekend series Saturday in Columbia. LWC took both games Friday winning 9-5 and 10-9 in ten innings.

In another wild affair, Lindsey Wilson won game one 10-7 in eight innings Saturday. The Blue Raiders used a big inning to capture game two in five innings, 13-0.

The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game one. Alexis Wheeler was credited with an RBI after grounding into a fielder's choice driving in Emma Johnson.

In the third Melanie Alexander doubled and would later score on a LWC error. Gillian Grahn singled driving in Alexa Thrasher to give Bethel a 3-0 lead.

Lindsey Wilson tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the third.

Bethel scored two runs in the top of the fourth to recapture the lead. Wheeler scored on a wild pitch. Alexander grounded into a fielder's choice and Bethel led 5-3 with Leah Beasley scoring on the play.

As was the case the entire series, each team answered time after time. The Raiders tied the game at five with a two-run homer by Makea -Al Kalunu in the bottom of the fourth.

Showing their own grit, Bethel took a 6-5 lead on a solo homer by Wheeler in the top of the fifth.

The Wildcats upped their margin to 7-5 on an RBI sacrifice fly by Kalani Kuroda in the seventh.

Another wild game in the series got even wilder when LWC's Kylie Wilder smacked a one out two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to knot the game at seven all. For the second straight game, the teams would go to extra innings.

For the second game in a row, Lindsey Wilson won in dramatic fashion with a walk-off hit. Ellie Derrick hit a three-run homer to hand the Blue Raiders a 10-7 eight inning victory.

 LWC outhit Bethel 11-10. Madison Locke suffered the loss while Olivia Francesch picked up the Lindsey Wilson win.

Lindsey Wilson used the long ball again in game two take the lead in the bottom of the second. Lexi Isable went deep with a two-run dinger. The Blue Raiders scored eleven more runs in the inning to lead 13-0 after two. The other big hit was a grand slam by Mikayla Marquez. Lindsey hit nine home runs in the four-game sweep.

LWC outhit Bethel 9-2.

Emily Boin picked up her third win of the series. Lauren Reimsnyder was charged with the loss.

Bethel dropped to 19-21 and 11-15 in league play. Bethel has lost seven straight. LWC moved to 31-11 and 22-8.

The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday visiting Campbellsville. Action for the twin bill is slated to begin at 1 p.m. CST.
