Bethel’s Alexander Named to All-Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 147 student-athletes from 62 schools who comprise the 2022 NFCA NAIA All-Region teams.

Bethel's Melanie Alexander was named to the Region V team.  The senior from Lexington, Tennessee led the Cats hitting .471 with a slugging percentage of .721. Alexander led Bethel in hits with 80. She had a team leading 38 RBI's and a squad high 21 doubles. She was tied in homers with six. 

Oregon Institute of Technology in Region IV and Saint Xavier in Region V led all schools with seven selections apiece, while two others — Columbia (Mo.) in Region II and University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma in Region IV — had six players earn honors.

Six schools — Coastal Georgia (Region I), Southeastern (Region II), Oklahoma City and Southern Oregon (both Region III), Central Methodist (Region V) and Indiana Wesleyan (Region VI) — had five honorees each. Five schools — Houston-Victoria and Georgia Gwinnett (both Region I), William Jessup (Region IV), and Campbellsville and Marian Indianapolis (both Region VI) — had four on the list in their region. 

Texas A&M-Texarkana (I), Reinhardt (II), Bellevue (III), Midland (III), Northwestern (IV), Aquinas (V) and Madonna (VI) all had three student-athletes chosen. Ten more schools had two selections apiece.
