Lady Cats Fall in 11-Inning Heartbreaker to Campbellsville
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – In a marathon Mid-South Conference battle that spanned eleven innings at Lady Wildcat Park the Bethel Lady Wildcats showed immense resilience but ultimately fell 8-7 to Campbellsville University.
Despite a late-inning surge and an iron-willed performance in the circle, Bethel (12-25, 3-12 MSC) saw the Tigers escape with the narrow victory in the final frame.
The game remained scoreless until the fifth, when both offenses exploded. Trailing 4-0, Bethel roared back with a four-run fifth inning and took a brief lead in the sixth. The two teams then traded blows in extra innings, with Bethel repeatedly finding answers until the top of the 11th, where Campbellsville managed to scratch across two runs to seal the contest.

Campbellsville has an 19-6 advantage in the series and has won 14 in a row between the two programs.
Coach's Corner- Head Coach Craig Massey reflected on the grueling nature of the loss and the grit his team displayed. "To play eleven innings of high-stakes softball like that and come up one run short is incredibly tough. I can't fault the effort or the heart of this team. We battled back from a deficit, forced extras, and never quit swinging. Briley Auvenshine had some massive at-bats for us, and our pitchers showed a lot of guts. We're going through a gauntlet right now, but playing this kind of competitive ball against a team like Campbellsville shows exactly what we're capable of when we click."
Up Next: The Lady Cats will look to carry this competitive energy into their next conference matchup as they aim to climb the MSC standings. Bethel will hit the road for next weekend MSC action.
The Cats travel to Cumberlands (KY) for a three game MSC series Friday and Saturday.
