Bio
Craig Massey a former Bethel University baseball standout and NAIA All-American, returns to his alma mater as the Head Coach of the Lady Wildcats softball program. A 2013 graduate of Bethel, Massey earned 1st Team All-TranSouth and 1st Team All-Region XI honors as a shortstop during his collegiate playing career. His performance on the field earned him national recognition, being named an NAIA All-American in his junior season.
A native of West Tennessee, Massey had an exceptional prep career at Crockett County High School in Alamo, where he was a 1st Team All-West Tennessee selection and a TSWA All-State honoree for the Cavaliers.
Following college, Massey enjoyed a 13-year professional baseball career, most recently serving as a player-coach with the Florence (KY) Y’alls in the Frontier League. He amassed over 1,000 career hits and was selected to eight professional All-Star teams while earning three batting titles.
Beyond the field, Massey is the founder and owner of Massey Athletics, a youth training facility in Alamo that provides individual instruction and supports travel baseball and softball teams. His passion for developing young athletes has been evident through his work as a private trainer and assistant softball coach at Jackson State Community College.
Craig is married to Shelby Cummings Massey, a former collegiate softball player at Bethel and Freed-Hardeman University. Together, they have two children, Griffin and Emma Craig. Their Christian faith is central to their lives, with Philippians 4:13 being a guiding verse for Craig both on and off the field.
Now leading the Bethel softball program, Massey aims to create a Christ-centered culture rooted in excellence, faith, and servant leadership.
“I’m beyond grateful and humbled for the opportunity to serve as the head softball coach at Bethel University,” said Massey. “I believe God has opened this door for a purpose, and I’m excited to pour into the lives of these young women—both spiritually and athletically.”
