Lady Cats Fall to Talladega

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats battled from behind to lead Talladega 54-48 with 2:27 left in their match-up Saturday in the final game of their Annual Tip-off Classic.  The Tornadoes had the final say however outscoring Bethel 11-2 to beat the Cats 59-56. It was just the 22nd loss for Bethel in Crisp Arena. They are 129-22 all-time in the building.

Bethel had trailed by three (23-20) at halftime and 37-36 at the end of three. 

Neither squad shot the ball well. Bethel was 16-of-53 from the floor at 30 percent. The Cats hit just five of 22 three-point attempts. Bethel was 19-of- 28 from the free throw line. Talladega shot 25 percent from the floor hitting just 16-of-62 attempts. The Tornadoes hit three three-pointers in 18 tries.  They were 24-of-41 from the charity stripe. TC outrebounded Bethel 48-35.

Bethel was led by newcomer Kelly Morrow who finished with a game high 21 points. Ryann Roberts had her second straight double-digit night with 12 points. 

Ayasha Thomas led Talladega with 12 points.

Bethel returns to the hardwood next weekend in the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Classic. They meet John Brown Friday at 3 p.m. The Cats play Brescia Saturday a 1 p.m. No. 2 Campbellsville plays Brescia Friday at 1 p.m. and John Brown Saturday at 11 a.m.
