Lady Cats Bounce Back on the Road with Non-Conference Win Ahead of Conference Play
BLUE MOUNTAIN, MS- The No. 1 Bethel Lady Wildcats responded exactly how a seasoned team should, bouncing back on the road with a 71–55 non-conference victory over Blue Mountain Christian on Monday night at Tyler Gym. The win lifts Bethel to 15-1 overall and provides momentum heading into conference play.
Bethel set the tone early, building a 19–15 advantage after the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the contest. The Lady Cats were steady on both ends of the floor, shooting over 50 percent from the field while holding Blue Mountain Christian to just 29.2 percent shooting for the game.
Madison Hart led the way with a game-high 21 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists in a strong all-around performance. MJ Simmons was efficient and aggressive, scoring 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the free-throw line. Adalyn Koelling provided a big spark off the bench, pouring in 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Micah Hart and Mikee Buchanan each pulled down seven rebounds to help control the glass.
The Lady Cats steadily widened the gap as the game wore on, outscoring the Toppers 16–14 in the third quarter before closing strong with a 19–10 fourth quarter. Bethel's defensive pressure limited Blue Mountain Christian's perimeter shooting and kept the home team from finding a late rhythm.
Bethel finished with 32 points in the paint and received 17 points from their bench, showcasing balance and depth throughout the lineup.
"We challenged our team to respond the right way tonight," said head coach Chris Nelson. "I was proud of our defensive effort and how we shared the ball. This was a good road win that helps prepare us for conference play."
With the non-conference slate behind them, the Lady Cats now turn their focus to conference action, carrying confidence and momentum into the next stretch of the season.
The Lady Cats open MSC play on Thursday night hosting No. 12 Cumberlands (KY) at 5:30 p.m.
