Lady Wildcats Open League Play Thursday hosting Cumberlands (KY)

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 1 Bethel Lady Wildcats open Mid-South Conference play Thursday playing host to No. 12 Cumberlands (KY). Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Crisp Arena where the Lady Cats are 180-41 all-time.

Bethel is 15-1 overall and 7-0 at home on the season. The Wildcats are coming off a 71-55 road win on Monday. Their only loss was the game prior when they were upset 84-78 at UT Southern.

The Lady Patriots are 15-1 and have won nine straight. UC is 3-1 on the road. Their only defeat was on the road to at that time No. 4 Marian 79-46.

Cumberlands leads the series 9-2. Bethel won in McKenzie last year and later beat the Pats in the MSC Tournament in Bowling Green. The Pats are 3-1 all-time in games played in McKenzie and Crisp Arena.

Bethel averages 78.4 points and yields 57.6 per game. The Lady Cats shoot 47 percent from the floor and 37 percent in three-point attempts. The Cats shoot 76 percent from the foul line and outrebound their opponents 34-29 per outing. Bethel averages 17 assists per contest.

Micah Hart leads the team in scoring at 17.4 points per outing. She also leads the squad in steals, blocks, rebounds and in free throw attempts and made free throws. Mikee Buchanan leads the team in made three-pointers and averages 15.5 points per game. Hallie Turner leads the Lady Cats in assists with 53 on the season.

The Lady Pats average 85.8 and yield 56.9 points per game. They shoot 45 percent from the field. UC outrebounds their opponents 51-28. The Pats recently set a new team record for rebounds in a game with 69 versus Miami-Hamilton. Joy Kendrick leads the Pats in scoring at 16.8 points per game. Zaram Fredicks leads the team in rebounding averaging over eight boards per outing. Fredricks is the current MSC Defensive Player of the Week.
