Lady Cats Move to 2-0 in League Play
MCKENZIE, Tenn. — The Bethel Lady Wildcats continued their strong start to conference action on Saturday afternoon, pulling away for an 80–61 win over Georgetown College inside Crisp Arena to complete a 2–0 weekend in Mid-South Conference play. The Cats are 182-41 all-time I the arena which opened in 2012.
Bethel, now 17-1 overall and 2-0 in league action, used balanced scoring, defensive pressure, and a decisive run coming out of halftime to control the contest against a Georgetown team that entered the day 15-2.
After a tight opening quarter, Bethel began to separate in the second period, holding Georgetown to just nine points while building a 39–29 halftime lead. The Lady Cats never looked back, outscoring the Tigers 23–16 in the third quarter to extend the margin.
Micah Hart led all scorers with 24 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding five rebounds. With her performance, Hart now sits just 38 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point milestone for her collegiate career. Fellow Sophomore Mikee Buchanan followed with 22 points and nine rebounds, continuing her strong play on the interior.
Madison Hart added eight points and four rebounds, and in doing so extended her points total to 1,529 career points, cementing her place among Bethel's all-time greats.
Bethel finished the game shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range and recorded 18 assists on 27 made field goals, showcasing efficient ball movement and unselfish play. Adalyn Koelling provided a spark off the bench with eight points and six rebounds as the Lady Cats controlled the game on both ends.
Georgetown was paced by Daysha Reid's 19 points and Daisy Gale's 15 points and 10 rebounds, but the Tigers struggled to find consistency offensively, shooting just 32.4 percent from the floor.
Head coach Chris Nelson praised his team's composure and consistency over the weekend.
"I'm really proud of how our group handled the weekend," Nelson said. "We defended with purpose, shared the basketball, and stayed disciplined for four quarters. Conference play is about being steady, and I thought our kids showed that today."
With the weekend sweep, the Lady Cats carry momentum into a challenging road stretch. Bethel will continue Mid-South Conference play next week with road contests at Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson.
