Top Three Match-up Looms in Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -An NAIA Top 25 match-up is set for Thursday in Campbellsville when the visiting No. 2 ranked Bethel Lady Wildcats invade the Powell Athletic Center in Campbellsville, Kentucky to face the No. 3 Campbellsville Lady Tigers. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m.

It is the 25th meeting between the two programs with Campbellsville holding a 20-4 advantage in the series. Bethel is 0-9 in games played in Campbellsville. The Cats beat the Tigers in the MSC Tournament in Bowling Green and went on to win the MSC Tournament title last year.

Bethel is 17-1 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference. The Cats are 5-1 in road action with the only loss at UT-Southern recently in Pulaski. The Lady Cats have won three in a row since that loss.

Bethel averages 78 while giving up 58 points per game. The Cats shoot 46 percent from the floor while opponents average 35 percent from the field. Bethel averages 37 percent in shots behind the arc. The opponents shoot just 29 percent from long distance. The Lady Cats shoot 78 percent from the free throw line. The Cats are plus four in rebounding at 34-30 per outing.

Micah Hart leads the team in scoring at 18.4 points per game. In the two conference games, she has averaged 26.0 points per game. Hart is 32 points away from becoming the 20th player in program history to join the Lady Cat 1,000 Point Club. Hart leads the squad in steals (36), assists (65), and made free throws. She averages 6.5 rebounds per outing. Hart is the reigning MSC Offensive Player of the Week. She has captured the award twice this season.

Mikee Buchanan averages 15.8 points and six rebounds per game. The Kentucky native leads the team in three-point attempts and made threes.

Senior All-American Madison Hart averages 13.0 points per game. Hart recently became the just fourth player in program history to score 1,500 points or more. She has 1,537 career points.

M J Simmons averages 10.2 and leads Bethel in free throw attempts.

Coach Chris Nelson is in his 19th year as head coach of the Lady Cats and is 420- 210 at Bethel.

The Lady Tigers are 16-1 and 2-0. They sport a 9-0 home record on the year. Their only loss was an 83-55 loss to Dakota Wesleyan in Honolulu.

The Lady Tigers average 88.7 and yield just 49.9 points per game. The team shoots 48 percent from the field while the Tiger defense holds their opponents to just 32 percent. CU shoots 31 percent from long distance while the Tigers allow just 22 percent from behind the arc. The Tigers shoot 70 percent from the charity stripe. They hold a 40-29 command in rebounding. Campbellsville averages 21 assists and forces opponents into 23 turnovers per game.

Whitney Hay leads the Tigers averaging 17.2 points per game. The all-conference performer also leads her team in steals and free throw attempts and made free throws. Dea Bradley follows with a 13.6 average in scoring. She leads the Tigers in made three-pointers with 35. West Tennessee native Hallie Allen (South Gibson HS) and Tyra Flowers   lead their team with 45 assists each.

Hall-of-Fame Coach Ginger Colvin is in her 19th season as head coach of the Lady Tigers. She has a career mark of 518-103.
