Lady Cats Rally Late on Senior Day to Beat Lindsey Wilson
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - On an emotional afternoon inside Crisp Arena, the Bethel Lady Wildcats delivered a Senior Day thriller, storming back in the fourth quarter to defeat Lindsey Wilson College 65-62 and strengthen their conference standing.
With the win, Bethel University) improves to 23-4 overall and 8-3 in league play, overcoming a seven-point deficit entering the final period with a dominant closing stretch.
Fourth-Quarter Fire
After trailing 55-47 at the end of the third, the Lady Cats flipped the script in the final 10 minutes. Bethel shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter and held Lindsey Wilson to just seven points on 25 percent shooting. Even more telling, the Blue Raiders failed to connect from three-point range in the second half's final frame. Bethel had actually trailed by 17 with 3:59 left in the third quarter.
Senior Madison Hart helped steady the surge, while Mikee Buchanan took over offensively.
Buchanan poured in a game-high 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, while grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Her presence in the paint and on the perimeter kept Bethel within striking distance all afternoon.
Madison Hart added 17 points and four rebounds in her final guaranteed home game at Crisp Arena, attacking the rim and converting 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Micah Hart chipped in 10 points and five boards, and MJ Simmons facilitated the offense with four assists.
Bethel finished the contest shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 40 percent from three, while out rebounding Lindsey Wilson 27-24 and scoring 30 points in the paint.
Defensive Clampdown
The difference came at the defensive end in the closing minutes. After surrendering 21 third-quarter points, Bethel locked in, contesting every shot and forcing key stops down the stretch.
"We just kept telling them to stay the course," said head coach Chris Nelson. "We didn't play our best basketball for three quarters, but championship teams defend and respond.
A Senior Day to Remember
For Madison Hart, the victory carried even deeper meaning.
"Playing my last guaranteed game in Crisp Arena means everything," Hart said. "This place has given me so many memories. To go out like that — fighting back with my teammates and getting a win — it's something I'll never forget. Hopefully, it's not the last time we play here this season."
The Lady Cats' rally capped a fitting Senior Day celebration and kept them in strong position as postseason play approaches — with hopes of earning the right to return to Crisp Arena for an AIA Opening Round contest.
On a day built around honoring the past and present. Bethel made sure to protect its future — one clutch fourth quarter at a time.
