Two West Tennessee and Highly Ranked Teams To meet for MSC Title in the Commonwealth

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No. 1 seed and third ranked Bethel Lady Wildcats and the No. 2 seed and No. 2 nationally ranked Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions will meet for the Mid-South Conference tournament title Monday night in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Bowling Green Arena will see tip-off take place at 5 p.m.

Both teams had to stave off challenges on Sunday in semifinal games to reach the championship affair. Freed-Hardeman held on to beat Cumberlands while Bethel    withstood a furious rally by Georgetown.

It will be the 87th meeting between the two programs with FHU holding a 69-17 advantage in the series. They first met in 1981. The Lady Lions have won seven of the last ten meetings.

Bethel is 25-4 while FHU is 25-3 on the year.

The teams split during the regular season with both teams winning respective road games.

Freed-Hardeman used a strong opening half and late surge to hand the Lady Cats a 73–59 loss at Crisp Arena in January.

The visiting Lady Lions built momentum early, jumping out to a slim 19–17 edge after the first quarter before clamping down defensively in the second. Bethel managed just six points in the period, allowing Freed-Hardeman to carry a 38–23 advantage into halftime.

Bethel responded with grit coming out of the break. The Lady Cats ripped off a 23-point third quarter, trimming the deficit to just seven heading into the final frame. Madison Hart and Micah Hart led the charge, attacking the rim and getting to the free-throw line as Bethel tried to swing the momentum back in its favor.

However, Freed-Hardeman answered every run. Behind balanced scoring and efficient shooting at the line (17-of-18), the Lady Lions pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Bethel 23–13 to secure the road conference win.

Madison Hart paced the Lady Cats with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Micah Hart also added 18 points, knocking down 9-of-9 free throws. Hallie Turner chipped in 12 points, and Mikee Buchanan finished with eight points and five boards. Bethel struggled from the floor overall, shooting 32.2 percent and just 4-of-23 from three-point range.

The Lady Wildcats turned in a complete performance in early February  in Henderson riding a dominant scoring effort from Micah and Madison Hart. That and a stifling defensive display propelled Bethel to a 60–46 conference win Madison Hart poured in a game-high 22 points, setting the tone offensively from start to finish, while Bethel's defense did the rest — holding the Lady Lions to just 37 percent shooting from the field and limiting Freed-Hardeman to 46 total points, well below their season scoring average of 74 per outing. Micah Hart dropped in 20 points with most of those coming in clutch situations in the second half.

Bethel seized control early, opening the game with pace and physicality on both ends of the floor. The Lady Cats led for much of the contest and never allowed Freed-Hardeman to find a consistent rhythm offensively. After a competitive first quarter, Bethel's defensive pressure intensified, forcing difficult looks and contested shots throughout the game.

The Lady Lions struggled to generate clean scoring opportunities, especially in the fourth quarter, where they were held to just two field goals as Bethel closed the door defensively. Freed-Hardeman shot only 17 percent from the floor in the final period, a testament to Bethel's discipline and communication on the defensive end.

Both teams are undefeated in neutral site games on the year. FHU is 6-0 while Bethel is 4-0.
