Lady Wildcats Place Fourth in MSC Championship
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -Cumberlands (Ky.) overcame a two-stroke deficit to capture the 2026 Mid-South Conference Women's Golf Tournament championship on Tuesday at Bowling Green County Club.
With the victory, the Patriots earned the conference's automatic bid in the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship.
Cumberlands posted the best round of the tournament (307) in today's final round to win by four shots over Cumberland (Tenn.) and five over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.)
Cumberlands' finished the two-day event with a team-total 933 (312-314-307). Cumberland finished runner-up with a 937 (313-314-310), while Lindsey Wilson was third with a 938 (310-314-314).
Lindsey Wilson's Kayla Saunders took home the individual title with a 215 (74-75-74). With the medalist honor, Saunders earns an automatic bid into the NAIA National Championship next month.
Bethel ended in fourth place in the team standings with a 970 (321-322-327), followed by Freed-Hardeman's (Tenn.) 974 (321-322-327). Campbellsville (Ky.) ended in sixth at 1,019 (347-340-332), while Georgetown (Ky.) rounds out the standings at 1,028 (345-343-340).
Bethel's Merle Chacon had Bethel's best finish at 23 over par and finished tied at 11th in the field. Martina Gonzales tied for 15th in the field.
With their wins, Cumberlands and Saunders advance to the NAIA National Championships May 12-15, at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
