Bethel University Wildcat Women’s Tennis 2026 Season Preview

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Coach Derrick Hubble enters his eighth season leading the Bethel University Women's Tennis program, the Wildcats look to continue their rise as one of the Mid-South Conference's premier teams. Building off a highly successful 2025 campaign, Bethel carries momentum into the 2026 season after posting a 9–8 overall record and a 2–4 mark in conference play, earning a fourth-place finish in the Mid-South and establishing itself firmly among the league's elite.

Coach Hubble remains focused on sustained growth, competitive consistency, and positioning Bethel for a championship run in 2026.

Key Departures

The Wildcats will move forward without key contributors from the previous season, highlighted by the departure of Martina Coghetto, a steady presence and leader in the lineup. While replacing her experience will be a challenge, Bethel returns a talented core and has added depth across the roster to step into expanded roles this spring.

Key Returners

Bethel brings back a strong group of returners who played vital roles in last season's success and will be counted on for leadership and consistency in 2026.

  • Sofia Canto – Canto has emerged as one of the top young players in the conference. With a powerful game and proven mental toughness, she continues to be a cornerstone of the Wildcats' lineup.
  • Cloe Casado – Known for her work ethic and leadership, Casado provides reliability in both singles and doubles and remains a key contributor on and off the court.
  • Camila Barragan-Canas – An experienced and technically sound player, Barragan-Canas adds stability and competitiveness throughout the lineup, strengthening Bethel's depth in crucial matchups.

Coach Hubble commented. "This returning group, supported by a strong cast around them, gives the Wildcats a solid foundation as they pursue another top finish in the Mid-South."

New Additions and Transfers

The Bethel coaching staff has once again strengthened the roster with a mix of transfers and incoming freshmen who bring both talent and versatility.

  • Lavinia Anais Karadza (Transfer – Florida National) – A valuable addition with collegiate experience, Karadza adds depth and competitiveness to the lineup.
  • Claudia Gonzalez Pastrana (Freshman) – A promising newcomer with the potential to contribute early in her collegiate career.
  • Giada Ngoc Meneguzzo (Freshman) – Brings strong technical skills and adds depth across multiple lineup positions.
  • Paula Milla Becerra (Freshman) – A talented freshman whose development will further enhance Bethel's roster throughout the season.

Coach Hubble added, "These newcomers complement the returning core and provide the Wildcats with the depth necessary to compete consistently at a high level."

Looking Ahead

With a balanced roster that blends proven leadership, rising underclassmen, and impactful new additions, Bethel University Women's Tennis enters the 2026 season ready to build on last year's success. The Wildcats' combination of experience and fresh talent positions them as strong contenders for another top finish in the Mid-South Conference—and potentially a conference championship.
