Cats and Tigers Set for Conference Showdown Saturday in Campbellsville

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats and the Campbellsville Tigers ate two of the three teams sporting 3-1 records in the tough Mid-South Conference. The two will meet on Saturday in Campbellsville at 12:30 p.m. CT.

Lindsey Wilson, who will be in McKenzie next week, is the other team at 3-1.

A lot rides on the last two weeks of the regular  season which will decide the conference title and an automatic bid to the NAIA championships.

The Match-up:

The (RV) Wildcats are 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the MSC.  Bethel is 1-3 on the road this year.

The No. 11 Tigers are 7-1 and 3-1. Campbellsville is undefeated  at home on the season at 4-0.

The Wildcats won in stunning fashion beating Georgetown 26-23 in overtime.

The Tigers beat Faulkner 62-9 in Montgomery.

The programs first met in 1994.

It will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs. Before the 14-10 loss in McKenzie last year, Bethel had won six in a row in the series. The Cats have won on seven of the last ten meetings in the series. 

In a strange twist in the series. Bethel is 8-2 in Campbellsville while the Tigers are 8-3 versus the Wildcats in McKenzie.

The Wildcats average 22.5 points per game and yield 20.3 per outing. The Cats average107.8 rushing and 214.3 passing yards per game. Run defense allows 123.5 yards per game. Opponents are averaging 178.5 yards in passing yards.

The Tigers are averaging 43.1 points and yielding 24.0 points on defense. CU is averaging 173.8 rushing yards per outing and allowing 102.4 yards on the ground per game. The Tigers average 290.7 in the air while opponents are averaging 280.2 passing yards against the Tiger defense.

Bethel is 157-191 all -time in overall play in the modern-day era.

Coach Chris Springer is in his first season as Head Football Coach at Bethel University in
2024-25. He is in his ninth year on the Bethel football staff, having previously served as
Defensive Coordinator, Associate Head Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator. Over the course of his tenure, Springer has helped the Wildcats break multiple team and school defensive records, establishing Bethel as one of the premier defensive programs in the NAIA.
