Cats to Host Cumberland University Tuesday for MSC Title

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel University Wildcats will host Cumberland University on Tuesday afternoon in Walter Butler Stadium in the Mid-South Conference Championship game.

Game time is set for 4 p.m.

In front of a lively home crowd at Walter Butler Stadium, the Wildcats delivered a complete performance, defeating Lindsey Wilson College 3–0 in the semifinals on Wednesday evening.

With the victory, Bethel improved to 11-1-2 (4-1-1 MSC) and earned the right to play for the conference title.

The Phoenix (13-2-3 , 3-2-1) upset No. 1 seed the University of the Cumberlands 2-nil in Williamsburg to get to the title game. 

The teams fought to a scoreless deadlock during the regular season.  

Both squads have star power.

The Wildcats placed seven players on the all-conference list, including First Team selections Gregory Cousins, Souleymane Balde, and Horace Avila Jr., along with Second Team honorees Juan Diego Corral, Roberto Rangel, Enock Owusu, and Prince Badu.

Cumberland's Philipp Schmidtke  earned MSC Player of the Year and Miquel Gelabert  claimed Freshman of the Year honors. Mark Donaldson and Luis Cerejo were each named as Second Team  selections.
