Bethel University Men’s Tennis Team Honored Among 2025 ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has officially announced the recipients of the 2025 NAIA Men's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, recognizing the outstanding academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes across the nation. Each year, the ITA celebrates not only excellence on the tennis court but also in the classroom, where student-athletes continue to demonstrate discipline, drive, and dedication.
This year, 186 NAIA men's tennis student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 23 men's tennis programs earned the ITA All-Academic Team honor. Among those elite programs, the Bethel University Men's Tennis Team stood out as a shining example of what it means to balance academic rigor with athletic commitment.
With a team GPA of 3.59, the Bethel Men's team was one of only 23 programs nationwide (out of 207 NAIA men's teams) to receive the ITA All-Academic Team distinction. Their achievement reflects a team culture built on accountability, perseverance, and a shared commitment to academic success.
In addition to the team honor, five individual team members were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for 2025. These student athletes include:
Leonel Caspe
Matheus De Souza
Each of these young men met the ITA's high standard of academic achievement, maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year while also competing at the collegiate level.
Coach Derrick Hubble expressed his thoughts about his squad. "The recognition from the ITA affirms that the Bethel University Men's Tennis Team is not only building strong competitors on the court but also cultivating future leaders, scholars, and professionals off the court. Their success is a reflection of the broader mission of college athletics—to develop the whole student-athlete through the pursuit of excellence in all areas of life."
Bethel Director of Athletics Dave McCulley added, "As the 2025 season closes, the Bethel Men's Tennis Team proudly stands among the best in the nation, proving once again that hard work, both in the classroom and on the court, pays off. We are extremely proud of these young men and Coach Hubble."
