Wildcats Advance in ITA Regional Championships

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Bethel University men's and women's tennis teams turned in strong performances on day one of the ITA Regional Championships.

Men's Results

  • Mateo Prado fell in his opening round.
  • Andre Jovanovic defeated Shawnee State in round one before falling in a tough super tiebreak third set to Cumberland (TN).
  • Lucca Nesi advanced to the third round with wins over Shawnee State and Johnson University.
  • Gabriel Perini also moved on to the third round after defeating Shawnee State.
  • Freshman Marc Altur impressed with two victories, topping Midway and Indiana University Southeast to reach the third round.
  • Gustavo Santos came up short in round two against a tough Lindsey Wilson opponent.

In doubles, two of the Wildcats' three pairings advanced to round three, with Prado/Kenzo Nishioka and Nesi/Perini moving forward.

Women's Results
The Lady Cats bowed out in round two of doubles after a strong first-round win, showing they could compete at a high level.

  • Cloe Casado earned a singles victory over IU Southeast.
  • Giada Meneguzzo took down Johnson to reach the second round.
  • Sofia Canto picked up a win over Milligan to advance to round two.
  • Claudia Pastrana powered past Georgetown to move into the round of 32.

The Wildcats continue ITA Regional action Friday with several players still alive in both singles and doubles competitions.
