Lady Wildcats & Wildcats Tennis – Day Two Recap

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Day two of the ITA Regionals featured strong performances from both the Lady Wildcats and Wildcats, highlighted by several hard-fought matches and key victories.

Women's Results
In the round of 32, Giada Meneguzzo battled a tough Lindsey Wilson opponent but fell 6-2, 6-2. Claudia Pastrana also faced Lindsey Wilson in a challenging match, coming up short 6-0, 6-1. Despite the results, Coach Hubble was encouraged by the two freshmen's  efforts:

"I was pleased with their efforts. A lot of freshmen don't make it past the first round, so to see them advance and compete is a positive step. We know where they can improve, and we'll be better the next outing."

Cloe Casado opened the day with a gritty three-set win (6-3, 4-6, 10-7) to advance to the round of 16, where she eventually bowed out in another tough battle. Sofia Canto earned an impressive 6-0, 6-1 victory in the round of 32 before the Lady Wildcats' run came to an end later in the day.

Coach Hubble reflected on the women's team performance:

"I was very pleased with our day two effort and attitude. Knowing the level of our team and the rest of the Mid-South, I knew it would be a tough tournament."

Men's Results
On the men's side, doubles partners Mateo Prado and Lucca Nishioka drew the No. 1 seed from the University of the Cumberlands and nearly pulled off the upset, falling just short 8-6. They bounced back later, however, defeating the No. 3 seed from Cumberlands 8-6 to advance to tomorrow's semifinals.

In singles play, Lucca Nesi faced Milligan in the round of 32, pushing the match to a third-set tiebreaker before narrowly falling. Gabriel Perini picked up a strong win over Vivier Thibaud in the round of 32 before losing a tough three-set tiebreaker against Alex Tiffon in the round of 16. Freshman Marc Altur also faced Tiffon earlier in the day, falling 6-4, 6-3.

Coach Hubble praised the men's team's growth:

"I'm extremely proud of each one of these guys. Last year, we didn't make it out of day one. This year, to make a deep run into Friday and have a doubles team in the semifinals tomorrow just shows that as a team we are getting stronger."
